A few Frequent Questions from our Testers...

What software do I need?

You'll need to install XXXXX and have a working microphone attached to your PC. This software only supports Windows XX, XX and XX. If you have a Mac there is XXXXX available as software, but we recommend using a Windows PC. This software is supplied under the GPL License. It is Open Source and very stable.
When will I be paid?

You will be paid £7.50 for each test you take part in. Typically taking around 15-20 minutes you will be paid the full balance due into your PayPal account within 30 days of the test.
How often will I be asked to take part?

The honest answer is: it varies. Sometimes many times a week, a sometimes just a few a month. We have a large panel of testers and a select few projects, so it all depends on whether the project requires someone with your demographics.
How do I accept a project?

We'll send you an email explaining the project; you need to reply accepting the invitation. We may email many testers who a project, so we accept the testers who reply with their acceptance first.

I don't have a microphone!

They are very cheap these days – we'd recommend something like this.
I live in Papua New Guinea, can I still take part?

Yes, we're looking for a wide range of testers. Whilst the majority are based in Europe, the USA and Canada we welcome testers from across the World.
Is there any requirement to take part every time?

No. If you want to accept a project you can, if you don't then we'll ask you again next time.
What do I need to send you?
To complete the project you need to send us:
- A .wmv file of you browsing the site according to the brief and talking through your thoughts.
- Your answers to the questions should be included in the body of the email.

What's the difference between Usability Testing and a Usability Review?

Usability testing takes real users and gets their feedback after using your site or application. A Usability Review is a full scale report from a Usability expert that analyses your site (or a part of it) providing recommendations and pointing out areas that are letting you down from a Usability standpoint. They site at two opposing ends of the spectrum, but when used can be incredibly powerful.
How long does it take?

Typically we can turn a project around in 48 hours, some larger projects that require us to find a very specific type of tester or a high volume of testers may take 3-4 days.
How will I be sent my project?

When it is finished you will be sent a link to a section of our server that will allow you to download your finished project.
Who are your testers?

A real mix of people. We have a large pool of people who want to get paid for taking part in research. They come from across the world.
Can I select which Expert(s)?

You can make a request for specific Experts. This may delay your project due to their availability and cannot be guaranteed. Email me at ben@crowdview.co.uk if you want confirmation that a certain expert is available for your project.
Why should I use Usability testing?

Usability testing can uncover basic flaws in your site or application and allow you to make changes to improve them. You can test 5 users for £99 with us, and this could provide you with Insight that for an e-commerce store as an example improves your conversion rate significantly. How do I start a project?

Go to usability testing page and follow steps.
Can I A/B test 2 or more different websites?

Yes you can. Just start your project.
How can I pay?

PayPal: it' easy for us and hopefully for you too. It allows you to pay with either VISA, AMEX, MASTERCARD, SOLO or MAESTRO or directly from your bank account if you already have an account setup. If you'd like to pay by another method such as cheque or bank transfer let us know by emailing billing@crowdview.co.uk.

How much does it cost?

We offer some of the lowest cost Usability Testing on the planet. It costs just £99 to test 5 users, that's under £20 per person! Our Expert Usability Reviews are quoted on a per project basis as per your requirements and utilise our vast pool of Usability experts from across the World.
What can you Review & Test?

Websites, Web Apps, Intranets, E-commerce sites, Desktop Software, Mobile Software, Electronic brochures, forms, customer facing processes and internal processes. There's probably a few other uses as well!
What will I be sent?
It depends of what you order! For each User Tester you request you will be sent:
- A video of them browsing your site according to your instructions and talking through their thoughts.
- Their answers to your 3 to 5 questions.
For each Expert Usability Review you request you will be sent:

How do I make sure I get the most out of Usability Testing?

Provide us with a focused set of actions and questions that you want to answer. It is best to focus on a specific part of your site with each project rather than conducting a general review. However if using our Expert Review services then an all round review is the ideal.
I want to test my e-commerce store and let users buy, how does this work?

Either give us a dummy card number or a voucher code OR your testers will complete the steps but not submit their order.
